Welcome to Russell Rescue – Atticus!

Welcome to Russell Rescue!  Say “howdy” to Atticus.  He’s 2 years old and a little stick of dynamite that resides in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He needs a vet visit and then he will be ready to go.  And I do mean go!  You need to have your running shoes on for this one.  He will be ready for adoption in a couple of weeks so keep an eye out here for his post!  Welcome to the Russell Rescue family Atticus!

Max – Update!

You may remember us introducing you to little Max.  He’s a 14 year old senior guy.  He came to Russell Rescue not long ago.  His owner could not take care of him any longer due to her health.  Max was well loved for many years.  Max has settled into his foster home and is doing pretty well.  He does have an eye infection in his right eye that seems to be happening on both eyes now instead of just the one.  There is a mature cataract in the right eye.  Max went to the vet this past week and got a different ointment and a new antibiotic to see if they will help.  The vet ran some tests and the pressures in his eyes are good, and he has good tear production, but the right eye has a corneal defect/superficial ulcer in the center.  Max also has a skin infection on his scrotum that the vet is treating with oral antibiotics and a medication for the inflammation.  He also got a medicated shampoo that his foster mom will use on him twice a week.  Max had some blood work done and all his important organs are in good condition, so that’s great news!  We are hoping for improvement in a couple of days with the new meds.  Max is still happy and easy going and he’s eating and sleeping well.  He also enjoys the company of his roommates!  Stay tuned for more updates on our little senior guy!

Max will be available for adoption soon.  Watch for his post, including his adoption requirements, here on our website.  Anyone interested in adopting Max can apply here.  We don’t ship our dogs, so his adopter will need to travel to Pennsylvania to get him.

Russell Rescue could use your help with the vet bills for Max.  They are starting to add up.  Any and all donations are appreciated so much!  Russell Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.  Donations made to Russell Rescue, Inc. are tax-deductible to the contributor.

Donate here.  Thank you so much!  Max says thank you too!

Welcome to Russell Rescue – Jill & Snickers!

Say hello to these two rowdy pups!!  Jill and Snickers are 7 months old and are currently located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  They are healthy and fully vetted.  Because they are so young they are not well trained yet.  They could use a patient owner who can show them how to be great little JRT’s!  They do know how to sleep in their crates all night though, so they have a great start!  JRT’s are smart and they learn quickly.  Jill and Snickers will be in Oklahoma City for a couple of weeks and then will be headed to Texas to their foster homes.  Stay tuned for updates on these guys!

Jill and Snickers will be available for adoption soon.  Watch for their posts, including all their adoption requirements, here on our website.  Anyone interested in adopting Jill or Snickers can apply here.  We don’t ship our dogs, so their adopters will need to travel to the Dallas, Texas area to get them.

Jill is the cutie with the split face markings, and Jack is the handsome guy with one black ear.

Welcome to Russell Rescue – Max!

This is little Max.  His owner could not take care of him any longer due to her health, so Russell Rescue took him.  Max was well loved for many years.  He is in foster care in Wernersville, Pennsylvania and is settling in well.  He’s a senior boy (14 years old) with cataracts.  Even though he’s elderly he still is spry and pretty active.  He is a typical senior dog.  He loves to sleep in his bed and relax inside.  Max also loves car rides with the windows down, and long walks through nature!  He is a big fan of treats and will even speak for them.  He is completely housebroken and does a good job of going potty outside.  He hasn’t been great with cats in the past, but other than that he is a very affectionate and loving dog!

Max will be available for adoption soon.  Watch for his post, including his adoption requirements, here on our website.  Anyone interested in adopting Max can apply here.  We don’t ship our dogs, so his adopter will need to travel to Pennsylvania to get him.  Welcome to the family Max!    We are going to find you the perfect home!

Rescue Partnerships Save Lives!

Here at Russell Rescue, Inc., foster homes are our biggest need.  There are so many Jack Russells out there in need, and we are limited on how many we can help because of a shortage of committed foster homes.  Permian Basin Animal Advocates is a non-profit serving the Permian Basin area in Texas.  Bessie came along in their area needing help!  They stepped up with a foster home, and Russell Rescue, Inc. helped out with vetting.  Bessie was able to get a damaged eye removed and 5 infected teeth pulled.  She is feeling so much better!  Bessie was able to go home with her foster mom last week and is recovering.

We wanted to say thank you SO much to Permian Basin Animal Advocates for helping to save little Bessie.  We may not have had a foster home available for Bessie, but the collaboration between our rescue groups still saved a JRT in need.  This is what rescue is all about: putting the animals in need first and thinking outside the box to save them and get them into loving forever homes!  We hope to report back soon with pics of Bessie living her best life in her forever home!

If you are able to foster a Jack Russell Terrier in need, please complete a volunteer form here.   Currently, we have volunteers located mostly in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Iowa, Ohio, Kansas, Idaho and New England.  Russell Rescue covers all expenses, so all you need to worry about are the belly rubs and snuggles with your dog!  Read more about our organization here
