Background
Hi, my name is ChewyThis eleven month old puppy survived a fight with a large dog. Hence his new name… Chewy. I am pretty sure he got into the other dogs face as he was not neutered and was sporting an alpha personality.

The owners could not afford to pay for his surgery and so they relinquished him to the local Humane Society. One of the veterinary office helpers thought he looked far too cute and happy to be going there. She contacted a friend of hers that loves Jack Russell Terriers who went and got him and took care of him for 3 days before she could make the 4 hour drive down to me.

In the meantime, Russell Rescue agreed to save him. I was told go ahead and have his surgery done.

Chewy is smart and funny and loves to play. He is now learning about life at his foster horse farm with 5 other dogs and recovering from the surgery. His tail has NOT stopped wagging.

Please, help the rescue by donating to help pay Chewy's vet bills. It's even tax deductible!! The cost of the surgery and care was $600.

Progress updates from will be posted as we receive them.

October 28 - From Cheryl, Michigan Russell Rescue
In an unexpected turn of events, Chewy bounced back to rescue due to Edgrr and he not being fond of each other. Edgrr's family took little Sammie (a girl) and they are getting along great!

Meanwhile, Chewy was back at the farm. His second adoption lasted one day. You guessed it, Chewy is a bit of work! This time I vowed that he would not go unless it was a for sure forever home. Turns out, Chewy is not going. My husband fell in love with him, and I gave him Chewy for his birthday. He has done so much for the rescue dogs, and is the most supportive rescue partner you could ask for. He can convert any man - hating dog with his kindness and attention. Now, he has his own little buddy and Chewy , to my chagrin, loves to drink beer with his daddy! :/
June 1 - From Cheryl, Michigan Russell Rescue
Chewy's surgery healed exceptionally well. His personality flourished with a tiny bit of discipline and lots of good loving'! About the time that we were going to our final vet visit to take out stitches, an adoption application came in from the best home a little jack could ask for. These folks had adopted a very special terrier about a year ago from us, named Edgrr. When they applied for a brother or sister for Edgrr, I immediately thought of Chewy. Within a week the meeting was set up and they drove out here to the farm and Edgrr and Chewy ran around and around till I thought they would drop! Chewy went home with them and they are all moving to several acres out in the country. They promised me a family portrait as soon as they get unpacked.

Thanks to all who helped us with his medical expenses. You all helped save a very special, very sweet and smart little doll!!!
